Karrie Kwong (she/her) is a Toronto-based Chinese-Canadian actor, producer, and acting coach drawn to stories that are emotionally grounded, culturally specific, and driven by complicated women.
Whether she’s on set, behind the scenes, or in the rehearsal room, she brings playfulness, precision, and an eye for emotional truth.
As an actor, Karrie embraces nuanced and complex characters—women who hold it together on the surface but are unraveling underneath. She focuses on authentic storytelling, layering warmth, wit, and vulnerability into her performances. Her recent credits include The Recruit (Netflix), Fly Away With Me (Hallmark), and North of Normal, which had its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. Karrie has trained in film, TV, improv, and theatre through Second City and ongoing study with leading Toronto coaches. She is represented by Shortlist Artist Management.
Karrie is also the founder and executive producer of Yellow Daffodil Productions, where she is dedicated to creating character-driven stories that centre women and people of colour. Her work has been recognized with festival awards including Best New Filmmaker and Audience Choice. She also serves as a producer and finance lead with Counterbalance Collective, a nonprofit reshaping filmmaking norms through community-rooted, women-led collaboration.
As a coach, Karrie works both independently and in partnership with fellow actor-coach (and favourite scene partner), Will MacKenzie. Together, they guide actors and non-actors alike through mindset shifts to unlock renewed confidence, connection, and joy in their craft. Her approach is intuitive, grounded, and shaped by her own lived experience as a working artist.
She holds an Honours Business degree from Western University and spent over a decade leading award-winning campaigns in advertising and marketing—experience that now shapes how she pitches, produces, and collaborates across all stages of a project.
When she’s not on set or in development, you’ll probably find her rewatching Brooklyn Nine-Nine or The Mindy Project (for “research”), kickboxing (occasionally), or planning her next trip (always with a food-first itinerary).
